Olga Chentsova took part in the international conference dedicated to the issues of humane regulation of the number of companion animals and alternative proposals on amendments to the Kazakhstan Law on Responsible Animal Treatment
On 9 October 2025, Maqsut Narikbayev University (Astana) held the International Research-to-Practice Conference "Law, Science and Practice: Effective Solutions for Dog and Cat Population Control Considering International Experience".
The event was organized by the Center for Animal Law Maqsut Narikbayev University and Animal Protection Association "INUCOBO" with the support of the [Animal Law Committee]((https://kazbar.org.kz/category/komitet-po-zashhite-prav-zhivotnyh/) of the Kazakhstan Bar Association.
The conference brought together representatives of governmental agencies, academic community, lawyers, animal protection organizations, and international experts. The participants discussed modern approaches to humane regulation of the number of stray animals, and emphasized the importance of applying evidence-based and ethical methods.
AEQUITAS Managing Partner, Olga Chentsova, moderated the conference and spoke about alternative approaches to control the number of companion animals, which exclude mass culling of animals and euthanasia. For many years, she has been advising representatives of animal protection movement of Kazakhstan on the Animal Law issues. She is also one of the persons who actively participated in drafting of the Kazakhstan Law on Responsible Animal Treatment dated 2021 and was a member of a working group under the Kazakhstan Mazhilis on introduction of amendments into this Law.
