GAR Live: Turkic Region conference
On 15 May 2025, Global Arbitration Review held its inaugural GAR Live: Turkic Region conference in Almaty, marking the first time the GAR Live was hosted in Kazakhstan. The full-day event brought together leading arbitration practitioners from across the Turkic region and beyond to discuss emerging trends, jurisdictional challenges, and practical considerations in cross-border dispute resolution.
AEQUITAS was honoured to take part in this important initiative, represented by: Yekaterina Khamidullina, Partner and Head of AEQUITAS AIFC Branch, Kristina Mychka, Associate, Bernar Alikhan, Associate and Dinmukhamet Nurakhmet, Paralegal.
Topics of particular interest included:
▪️ Construction and infrastructure disputes in the Turkic region. ▪️ Developments in investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS). ▪️ Navigating oil and gas disputes. ▪️ Third-party funding mechanisms. ▪️ The impact of artificial intelligence on arbitration. ▪️ Comparative arbitration practices across Turkic jurisdictions.
The programme featured a series of expert panels and a GAR Live Symposium, allowing participants to engage directly with speakers and raise key questions arising in practice. Throughout the day, attendees benefited from substantive legal discussions and networking with regional and international peers.
We extend our sincere thanks to the organisers for an exceptionally well-curated event and look forward to contributing further to the arbitration development in the region.
